Details on the SpeedDate.com investigation
1) Use Of Member-Submitted Content
SpeedDate.com gains all legal rights over any and all personal information you upload on your dating profile. Whether it’s your own photographs, information about your age, personal description, info about your age, race, interests or hobbies, or anything you write about yourself on the profile – after you post/upload it on the site it is no longer yours. SpeedDate.com then has exclusive rights to take, reuse, change, and distribute these information to other dating sites within the same network, or give permission and license to other dating sites and companies to use these info.
PROOF OF SCAM: “By posting such information and photographs, You grant SpeedDate and its subsidiaries, licensees, and affiliates a non-exclusive, perpetual, irrevocable license to use, reproduce, publicly display, publicly perform, distribute, create derivative works of, incorporate into other works, sublicense and otherwise make available the information and content You submit for Your profile or to other portions of the Service that are made available to other users or to the public, including any photographs for purposes of publicizing SpeedDate or for any other lawful purpose.”
2) What Happens To The Reused Profile Data?
We already made it clear that SpeedDate.com is taking everyone’s personal information and copying, reproducing, displaying, modifying and distributing into other networks. But, who stands behind these information and who’s running these created profiles on other websites? We believe the data taken from you and other real people is used to fabricate profiles that are run by computer softwares or by employees.
In addition, if SpeedDate.com is providing other websites with replicated profiles, than who can guarantee that the profiles you see on this site as members are real? There is simply no way to know this, thus you can never trust anyone you meet on the site.
3) Automated Or Third Party Communications
SpeedDate.com doesn’t only use its created profiles to fill up the homepage and create the feeling of having a lot of people and choices for dating. SpeedDate.com also uses the fabricated profiles to send you computerized messages in order to engage you in the site’s services and deceive you into paying for subscription. The trick is that when you sign up, chat and email messages start flying in, so you will be compelled to open and read them. These messages seem genuine and will make you believe people on this site are interested in you and reaching out to flirt, maybe continue the communication. Problem is – you won’t be able to open, read, reply or initiate communication with anyone unless you upgrade to a paid membership first.
PROOF OF SCAM: “You consent to receiving email communications initiated by SpeedDate or on SpeedDate’s behalf, including: message notification emails, emails informing You about events and parties, emails informing You of changes to the Service and emails informing You of promotions provided by SpeedDate or third parties.”
4) Subscription Costs
Unlike many people’s beliefs, SpeedDate.com is not an online speed dating service that is free of charge. In fact, when you sign up for free, the site will automatically take you to a page where you are required to pay a fee and upgrade your basic membership to a paid one. If you want to start a conversation with someone and try to write an email or a chat message – you will be unable to do so unless you pay. Also, you are blocked to open and read messages until you upgrade.
Here are the offered subscription fees:
- $29.95 for 1 month of site membership
- $59.85 for 3 months of site membership
- $95 for 6 months of site membership
- $155.40 for 12 months of site membership
PROOF OF SCAM: “Unless You contact SpeedDate to cancel prior to the expiration of the current terms, You authorize SpeedDate to renew such subscription automatically at the end of every period and charge the credit card or debit card on file at the renewal rate in effect at the time to such service until such time as You instruct SpeedDate through its cancellation policy that You wish to modify Your account or cancel.”
The verdict on SpeedDate.com
All the results of our investigation point towards one thing – SpeedDate.com is out there to take your money. We do not recommend this online dating service, because it takes and reuses your personal data, fabricates profiles to populate the site and to send you automated messages. Above all, once you subscribe and pay for a membership they keep charging you without any further notifications until you cancel your membership…in some cases that can be too late.
